orange & cardamom iced coffee

Thai iced coffee is a drink that tastes more like a dessert than a mid-afternoon treat thanks to a hearty helping of condensed milk or other combination of cream and sugar. Though mixing it with a pinch of cardamom is hardly anything revolutionary, adding a small hint of orange juice adds a bright twist that reminds me of Swedish cardamom buns popular around tea-time in much of Scandinavia.

ORANGE & CARDAMOM ICED COFFEE

Servings: 2

Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

2 cups strong brewed coffee, chilled

1 cup condensed milk

1/3 cup orange juice

1.5 tsp ground cardamom

1 tsp almond extract

Ice

Directions:

  1. In a small pitcher, add the condensed milk, orange juice, ground cardamom, and almond extract. Stir well so that the cardamom is well-incorporated;

  2. Slowly add the coffee, stirring well once more so that the condensed milk fully dissolves into the coffee;

  3. Pour over ice into two different glasses;

  4. Enjoy!
